Scorpio Bulkers cancels kamsarmax newbuild contract

Monaco-based Scorpio Bulkers said today that it has cancelled a shipbuilding contract for a single kamsarmax bulker that was scheduled for delivery this month.

China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding looks to be the shipyard on the end of the cancellation, with six of Scoroio’s seven newbuild kamsarmaxes under construction contracted at the yard.

Scorpio Bulkers said that it has been released of all obligations and rights arising out of the shipbuilding contract, including the final installment of $19.3m.
