Scorpio Bulkers snaps up three ultramaxes and a kamsarmax

Emanuele Lauro’s Scorpio Bulkers has acquired four secondhand bulkers via two separate deals, splashing out $90m in the process.

Scorpio has added three ultramax vessels to its fleet, all built at China’s Chengxi Shipyard, two of them built in 2014 and the other 2015. As reported on Splash last week, it has also acquired a resale kamsarmax that is currently under construction at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2018.

In total, Scorpio is paying $90m for the four vessels, made up of $77.1m cash and the remainder in the form of around 1.592m common shares being issued to one of the sellers.
