Sembcorp Marine’s Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz targets repair work

Looking for new lines of business as Brazil’s offshore sector continues to struggle, Sembcorp Marine’s Brazilian shipyard Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) is looking to win business in the vessel repair sector.

The yard has just completed its first repair job on Olympic Gemini, a bulker managed by Athens-based Springfield Shipping Company. The vessel spent a week at the yard to repair a cargo hatch cover and undergo renewal works on the main deck supporting foundations.

“We are heartened to be chosen by Springfield Shipping Company for the repair of Olympic Gemini and to be given this valuable opportunity to be of service,” commented EJA President Altaf Hossain.

In addition to its new business of repair, EJA specialises in offshore construction and fabrication.
