Shell to build 17km gas pipeline from Venezuelan offshore field to platform off Trinidad

Royal Dutch Shell is to build a 17km pipeline from Venezuela’s shallow-water Dragon gas field to the Hibiscus platform off the coast of Trinidad, according to trinidadexpress.

The agreement was signed in Caracas. Once the pipeline is built and functioning, Venezuela’s state-owned oil firm Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) will supply gas to Trinidad’s National Gas Company (NGC).

The Dragon field is northeast of the Paria Peninsula, which is in Sucre State, and is the closest field to Trinidad.

All told, the project is expected to involve investment of more than $100m.
