Shell carries out repairs on Bukom SBM

Singapore: Shell is due to carry out repairs on the VLCC single-buoy mooring (SBM) at its 500,000 barrels a day Bukom refinery in Singapore between mid-February and late March, according to Reuters. The plant will run at reduced rates during the work.

The repair works will involve the removal and re-installation of the existing SBM buoy and new subsea pipeline, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said in a statement.

Furthermore, dredging works will also be carried out off the SBM and its vicinity from February19 to April 1.

This, and simultaneous work at Reliance’s 580,000 barrels a day Jamnagar refinery in India, is expected to tighten distillate supply in Asia in the coming weeks, shipbroker Simpson, Spence & Young noted.  [14/02/13]
