Shipping Corp of India buys second suezmax this year

Shipping Corporation of India has just added the 149,993 dwt Amoureux to its fleet list, paying just below $33m for the 2008-built suezmax. The ship is tied to a tender SCI has just won. The vessel was sold by the Greek tanker player Capital Product Partners.

State-run SCI is in dire need to upgrade its suezmax fleet. Of its seven suezmaxes, three of them are more than twenty years of age. This is the second suezmax SCI has bought this year.

SCI’s total tanker fleet now numbers 35 ships, cementing its position as India’s largest tanker owner.
