Shipping Corporation of India sends ageing tanker for scrap

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has announced the sale of 1999-built tanker Abul Kalam Azad.

The 51,793 dwt vessel had been circulated for sale by e-auction in August, with SCI willing to sell it for further trading or scrapping on an as is where is basis.

The Indian owner did not reveal the buyer or the price of the sale, however data from Marine Traffic shows the vessel has recently moved from anchor at Kakinada to Chittagong where it is destined for the scrapyard.
