Simatech in for Wenchong container orders

UAE-based boxship operator Simatech Shipping has signed an LOI for two plus two tier III 2,800 teu ships at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China according to brokers Braemar ACM. A price of around $31m per firm vessel has been reported.

“Newbuild activity and enquiry certainly picked up in 2018 with particular focus in this sector and it will be interesting to see if many other liner operators follow suit in the coming months,” the broker noted in a weekly container report.

Simatech mainly provides feeder services in the Gulf, Indian Sub-Continent, Far East and East Africa. Its fleet today stands at 13 trading ships.
