Singapore readies to offer LNG as marine fuel

Singapore: Singapore is looking to offer liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel by late 2014, an official from the Maritime Port Authority said on Thursday.

By the first quarter of 2013 the MPA should finalise licensing requirements for bunker suppliers and craft operators to supply LNG to ships, Captain M Segar, assistant chief executive of operations, said at the annual Sibcon bunkering conference.

Singapore’s first LNG terminal is scheduled to open next year.  [19/10/12]
