Spinnaker recruits Jon Chaplin to lead executive search

Recruitment firm Spinnaker Global has named Jon Chaplin as director of executive search.

Chaplin, 51, joins from TradeWinds where he served as commercial director before helming the company’s events around the world.

Spinnaker chairman, Phil Parry said, “Our executive search business has never been busier.  Whilst improved market conditions can only help, we have benefited from taking the long-term view that comprehensive shipping knowledge, respect for client and candidate confidentiality and doing the right thing is what clients expect. Naturally therefore, it was important to us to bring in to such a senior role someone whose reputation we know and can trust.”

Chaplin told Splash today: “I have known Phil a long time and have the utmost respect for what he and his team have achieved at Spinnaker. It’s going to be really interesting learning what new skills maritime companies require of their top management as shipping embraces an increasingly digital future. Helping those companies connect with their future leaders will be both fun and fascinating in equal measure.”
