Splash readers air concerns as Trump prepares for the White House

Splash readers are not sure the incoming new president of the United States, Donald Trump, will be good for shipping. In our ongoing quarterly online survey, called MarPoll, 55% of the 550 votes to date feel the real estate tycoon will not be good for shipping. Trump is in Washington DC today to be sworn in as the 45th president of the US.

A glance at reader comments to date shows growing concern about the possibility of protectionism though there is optimism for the tanker trades. There also appears to be considerable disquiet about what will happen with the Jones Act under Trump.

The question on Trump’s presidency forms one of ten posed in our latest online survey – results of which will be carried in the latest issue of Maritime CEO magazine. Voting takes just two minutes and there is no registration. To vote click here.
