Star bags a Daiichi bulker

Star Bulk has pounced for a bulker belonging to Daiichi Chuo, the Japanese bulker firm that sought court protection 16 months ago. Star Bulk has been very active of late inspecting many ships. It has plumped for the Clipper Ise, a five-year-old, 28,227 dwt bulker and has paid $8.5m for the ship.

“Prices in this size bracket have been fairly consistent,” Clarksons Research notes in its latest weekly report.
