Star Bulk completes Excel takeover

Athens: On Friday, Star Bulk took delivery of the Star Jennifer, formerly called Ore Hansa, a 82,290 dwt kamsarmax bulk carrier, built in 2006. The delivery brought the end of the acquisition of the 34 ships from Excel Maritime under an en bloc transaction announced on August 19 last year.

Star Bulk currently owns 70 dry bulk vessels on the water with a total carrying capacity of 7.2m dwt.

In addition, Star Bulk, which is controlled by private equity giant Oaktree, is expected to take delivery of 28 ships this year and next.
