Star Bulk confirms acquisition of kamsarmax pair

Greek dry bulk owner Star Bulk has confirmed the acquisition of two kamsarmax vessels for a total price of $30.3 million.

The 81,713 dwt vessels, built at Jiangsu New Yangzijiang in 2013, are scheduled to be delivered in March and May 2017.

Last week, Splash had linked Star Bulk to the two vessels in a deal with Japan’s Nisshin Shipping with brokers reporting a deal for four bulkers at an en bloc price of $60.8m.

Star Bulk said it is currently in advanced discussions to secure financing for up to 50% of the acquisition costs of the two vessels.
