Stena Drilling rig handed early termination by Statoil

Noway’s Statoil has announced a decision to cancel the contract for Stena Drilling semisubmersible rig Stena Don.

While the rig had been contracted through to February 2017, Statoil says that the cancellation will take effect once the rig completes plugging activity at its Troll field early November. Statoil says it doesn’t have any further activities where the rig can be utilised.

Stena Don has been on contract to Statoil since February 2014, operating at the Troll and Fram fields.
