Stolt-Nielsen orders LNG carrier pair at Keppel Singmarine

Stolt-Nielsen Gas has ordered a pair of dual-fuel 7,500 cbm LNG carriers at Singapore’s Keppel Singmarine.

The contract is worth $80m in total and also includes options for an additional three vessels. The ships will be built at Keppel Singmarine’s shipyard in Nantong, China and delivery is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2019.

Stolt-Nielsen has negotiated an agreement with an oil major who intends to charter the first ship for trading in the Mediterranean while the second ship is expected to trade in Northern Europe.

Splash originally reported the deal was in the works back in August 2016.
