Sungdong closes in on aframax deal

Sealing a refund guarantee is all that stands in the way of South Korea’s Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering from sealing a much needed second ship order of the year.

Brokers are linking Sotiris Dushas’s new owning vehicle Vision Tankers with a one plus one option 115,000 dwt aframax tanker deal. The ships are priced at $45m each and will deliver in the first half of 2018 once a refund guarantee is fixed. Dushas used to be ceo at Alba Maritime Services.

Sungdong’s other order this year was fixed during Posidonia in Athens this June when the Tsakos Group came in for two firm and two option 75,000 dwt LR1 product tankers.
