Svitzer to expand tug fleet in Brazil to 10 vessels

Towage and marine services firm Svitzer is more than doubling the size of its fleet of tugs working in Brazil this year.

By year’s end the fleet should number 10 Brazilian-flagged vessels.

The company, a subsidiary of Danish conglomerate Maersk, this month added two new Brazilian-flagged tugs to work in Paranagua port in Parana state in the southeast of the country.

It also is having four more built at the Inace (Industrio Naval de Ceara) shipyard in Fortaleza in the northeast state of Ceara.
