Taiwan ups mainland tourism drive, expected boom in cruise visits

Xiamen: Taiwan is increasing its tourism promotion across the mainland. The latest example of this came at the weekend, on the sidelines of the fourth Straits Forum in the port city of Xiamen.

According to the Beijing office of the Taiwan Strait Tourism Association, a total of 1.06m mainlanders visited Taiwan from January to May this year, a 48% rise compared to the same period of last year.

This growing tourist trade is expected to be a huge boost for cruise shipping in the region in the coming years.  [18/06/12]
