Tankerska Plovidba swoops for product pair

Zadar: Fresh from listing a subsidiary, Croatia’s largest shipowner, Tankerska Plovidba, has used the funds to buy a pair of newbuilds nearing completion at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

Tankerska Plovidba’s product tanker subsidiary Tankerska Next Generation (TNG) is paying  $73m to buy two 50,000 dwt product tankers due for delivery in June and August this year. Monaco-headquartered Gestion Maritime has a pair of ships on order at the yard with the same delivery times, however the firm’s ceo denied the sale had anything to do with them.

TNG raised $31m from its IPO on the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) earlier this month. With the latest ship additions the subsidiary now has a fleet of five vessels.
