TAS Offshore’s record orderbook

Kuala Lumpur: The booming Southeast Asian OSV scene is seeing records set by many Malaysian offshore players, including TAS Offshore. The firm now has a record 12 anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTSs) that it has contracted two yards in Guangzhou, China to build for clients across the world.

“We will continue to outsource the construction of vessels in view of the competitive pricing and quality work done by the contract shipyards in China,” managing director Datuk Lau Nai Hoh told local newspaper StarBiz.

On top of that it has an orderbook of more than 10 ships, mainly tugboats, at its home yard in Sibu.

TAS currently has some RM380m worth of shipbuilding contracts on hand.  [29/07/13]
