TGS and PGS win multi-client survey contract in offshore Canada

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company (TGS) and Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS) are to collect 3D seismic data from a 2,000-km² area in offshore eastern Canada for an unnamed client.

The survey will commence this summer and will acquire the data using PGS GeoStreamer technology.

PGS will take responsibility for pre-processing the initial GeoStreamer signal, while TGS will perform data processing. It expects to hand final data over to the client in the third quarter 2017.

“We are building upon our extensive knowledge derived from previous 3Ds and the multi-year 2D programs acquired in partnership with PGS. This project will provide valuable data to exploration companies to further de-risk their prospects,” Kristian Johansen, CEO of TGS, said in a release.
