Tianjin Southwest Maritime inks financial leasing deal for asphalt carrier duo

Chinese tanker owner Tianjin Southwest Maritime has clinched a 10-year financial leasing deal with Guangdong Financial Leasing for two 7,800 dwt asphalt carriers.

The first of the two vessels, Da Wei Shan, was delivered by Guangzhou Hangtong Shipbuilding in September, with the ship secured a 10-year time charter contract with a major asphalt trader in the US. The second ship will be delivered by the shipyard in December.

The financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Tianjin Southwest Maritime currently operates a fleet of 20 tankers including six asphalt carriers and 14 LPG vessels. It is also set to take delivery of an asphalt carrier and two VLGCs from Guangzhou Hangtong Shipbuilding and Jiangnan Shipyard respectively this year.
