Tom Boardley switches roles at LR

Tom Boardley, currently marine business director at UK classification society Lloyd’s Register (LR), is moving to a new role in the first big shake-up at the organisation since a change in top management at the start of the year.

From March, Boardley (pictured) will become executive vice-president and global head of corporate and external affairs.

Nick Brown, currently marine chief operating officer and viewed by many as future CEO material, will become LR’s new marine business director.

Brown, who began his career with LR 20 years ago as a graduate trainee, will be responsible for managing not only LR’s marine business but also its energy compliance business, a new area for him.

“Just as we have already expanded from our marine origins I see us moving into further new areas. The digitisation of our world and new technology will help drive value with a broader group of clients – so we need to further evolve our organisation,” commented Alastair Marsh, the new CEO of LR. Marsh took over from Richard Sadler on January 1.
