Tough year ahead: Manish Singh

Singapore: One of the region’s top maritime consultants, Manish Singh, has cast his crystal ball for the year and reckons 2013 will just as tough as 2012, with “particular challenges” for the tanker industry.

On the liner front, the boss of Ideocean Holdings thinks further consolidation is inevitable. Moreover, the industry should brace itself for further high profile corporate casualties.

On the plus side, Singh, formerly with V.Group before going it alone last year, said that he could see demand drivers from China slightly improve through the year.

Meanwhile, Southeast Asian markets like Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia are likely to experience further growth in services markets, Singh said.  [02/01/13]
