Trafigura buys UK’s Milford Haven refinery

London: Singapore-based Puma Energy has bought the UK’s Milford Haven oil refinery and three nearby inland storage terminals from Murco Petroleum.

Puma, a subsidiary of commodity trader Trafigura, has also purchased Murco’s wholesale and distribution business in the UK.

Milford Haven, located in Wales, currently operates solely as a petroleum storage and distribution terminal.

The 135,000-bpd refinery at the site was closed by Murco in November after talks to sell the facility to America’s Klesch Refining fell through.

Puma said the acquisition “signifies a significant strategic entry into the UK market for the supply of the full range of fuel products giving Puma Energy an immediate presence in the UK wholesale and distribution market”.
