Triple acquisition takes MPC Container Ships fleet to 23 in just five months

The remarkably rapid buildup of the MPC Container Ships fleet continues apace. The Oslo-listed company, founded this year, has taken on another three ships, bringing its fleet to 23 vessels.

MPC Container Ships has acquired the 2,846 teu HS Onore (to be renamed AS Clarita), as well as a majority share in the 2,556 teu sisterships, Rio Teslin and Rio Thelon.

The total equity investment for the three vessels is $21.6m, including working capital requirements and drydock reserves.

Earlier this month, MPC Container Ships raised $100m for more ship buys after completing the issuance of a new senior secured bond.

MPC Container Ships was set up by Germany’s MPC Capital in April, listing in Oslo, with a focus to own and operate a portfolio of feeder container ships between 1,000 and 3,000 teu.
