Ukrainian suffers severe burns from engine room inferno

An engine room fire early Sunday morning resulted in a Ukrainian seafarer being helicoptered off the tanker Basilia with severe burns. The 29-year-old was sent to Nicosia General Hospital where he is now being treated.

The fire took place 17 nautical miles south of Limassol.

The 24-year-old ship’s registered owner according to database Equasis is Ukrainian firm Ocean Seek Maritime.
