Ultra Deep Group heads to China Merchants Heavy Industry for new dive support vessel

Ultra Deep Group (UDS) has announced that it has signed a contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry to build one multipurpose diving support construction vessel.

The vessel is the largest vessel UDS is building at the moment and is in line with the company’s strategic plan to operate an efficient, cost-effective fleet of diving and support vessels.

“We are thrilled with this contract and it affirms our company is heading in the right direction to build quality and size-appropriate vessels catered for the future market. The current slowdown in the market allows us time to ensure our designs are optimized and customized for relevance in the oil and gas industry,” said Shel Hutton, chief executive officer of UDS.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled in the first quarter of 2018.
