Ultrabulk diversifies

Copenhagen: The downfall of a fellow Danish operator has presented Ultrabulk with a new arena, kicking off a service between Europe and Africa in the multipurpose sector.

CEO Per Lange has hired a of team of five with long experience in the MPP trades led by Joergen Larsen from now bankrupt Copenship.

Lange is upbeat about the move and  said in a statement: “We had no hesitation when this opportunity presented itself.”

He did concede, however:  “The market is not great at the moment, but we will continue to pursue our strategic goals, and firmly believe that both we and our clients will see the benefit over time.”

Despite the low bulk market at present Ultrabulk confirmed orders in March for four bulkers from handy to kamsarmax size with an option for a fifth at Japanese shipyards.
