Jakarta:Pelabuhan Indonesia III and construction company Adhi Karya will construct a Rp 2.5trn ($257m) automated container transporter this year that will connect Tanjung Perak Port and the under-construction Teluk Lamong Port in Surabaya.
The ACT will shift boxes on a 5.6km elevated, single-railed track between the old and new port, avoiding traffic congestion below.
“This is the first in the world, a monorail that will transport containers fully automatically,” a spokesman for the port operator said. [14/05/13]
