V.Group ships in to Hong Kong

Hong Kong: V.Group, parent company of V.Ships, the world's largest ship manager, has set up a group representative office in Hong Kong, SinoShip News can reveal.

The setup includes a staff of three and is intended to serve as a business development office for the group rather than a ship management office. It is hoped this move will be a platform for growth in both Hong Kong and China, with previously Shanghai-based Mingfa Liu taking up a director role in the office. Liu commented: “Opening a representative office in Hong Kong is a natural step for the group to take as we continue to expand our presence in the Greater China market”.

V.Group has also rejoined the Hong Kong Shipowners Association.

Last year V.Group ceo Clive Richardson made no secret of the fact that expansion in Asia was on the horizon and that acquisition was a distinct possibility for the group so this move may be the first step in a rapid expansion process in Asia.  [17/07/12]
