VBMS awarded offshore cable installation contract

VBMS, a subsidiary of Dutch offshore engineering specialist Boskalis, in consortium with NKT Cables has been awarded a contract by TenneT for the installation of two 67km export cables that will connect the Borssele offshore wind farms to TenneT’s onshore grid in the Netherlands.

In addition, VBMS will install a 7km interconnector cable between the Borssele Alpha and Beta offshore substations. Boskalis said it will earn around EUR70m ($81.4m) for its share of the contract.

Last week, VBMS secured a contract for the supply and installation of the inter-array calbles for Moray Offshore Windfarm East in the UK.

VBMS operates a total of eight offshore engineering vessels, five of which have cable laying capabilities.
