Volstad Shipping rejects DeepOcean charter termination

Norway’s Volstad Shipping has received an early termination notice from DeepOcean for IMR vessel Volstad Surveyor.

The vessel is on a four year charter to DeepOcean and due to expire on September 30. Volstad Shipping said that the company strongly disagrees with the termination and in consultation with their legal advisors rejected the termination as without merit.

Volstad said it will now consider the implications of the termination and claim damages from DeepOcean for all relevant losses.

Last month DeepOcean let go of 90 staff as it fights the downturn in oil prices which has seen much of its fleet laid up
