Wallem and Nanjing Tankers establish jv in Singapore

Singapore: Wallem Shipmanagement and Nanjing Tanker Corporation today launched NW Shipmanagement Ltd, a joint venture ship management partnership based in Singapore.

Simon Doughty, Wallem Group Managing Director, said the new venture would further grow the company’s reputation in managing tanker vessels stating “Wallem already manages 130 tanker vessels, putting NW Shipmanagement in a good position to draw on our experience in managing the vessels to international standards.”

Mr Doughty added that NW Shipmanagement’s staff will use Wallem’s systems and processes while the venture "is also an opportunity for us to invest in more Chinese officers with tanker experience, providing longer term solutions to the current shortage of seafarers.”

While Wallem has had a presence in Singapore for more than 50 years, the move marks Wallem’s first ship management presence in Singapore. [23/07/12]
