Wei promises Arctic tourist excursions next year

Beijing: The leading Chinese carrier Cosco plans to create an Arctic tourist route next year, Wei Jiafu, chairman of Cosco said at the 2012 Tsinghua Management Global Forum earlier this week.

Wei has just come back from the Arctic area and has started to research the commercial value of the Arctic area, he said at the forum.  The news comes as China gets ever more interested – and geared up for the Arctic, with a first Chinese icebreaker for the Arctic now being built and a recent first cross-Arctic sea trip concluded a month ago.
