Wen offers help with Uruguayan port construction

Montevideo: On an official trip to Uruguay over the weekend Chinese premier Wen Jiabao pledged to foster greater economic ties with the South American nation, and mooted the idea of helping the Spanish-speaking country in constructing deepwater ports.

China is currently Uruguay's second-largest trade partner and the top buyer of its wool, soybeans and paper pulp. Bilateral trade reached $3.4bn last year, according to official figures.  [25/06/12]
