Wilmar takes supramax pair for $19m

Singapore-based Wilmar International has snapped up a pair of supramax bulkers for just $19m en bloc. Hellenic Star Shipping has sold the Sea Moon and Sea Queen II, built in 2009 and 2010 respectively, to the acquisitive Singaporean owner.

While still cheap, the deal shows how supramax prices have shot up in recent months. Wilmar, owned by tycoon Kuok Khoon Hong, bagged a six-year-old supramax last August for $7m.
