Wisdom Marine orders bulker duo at Imabari Shipbuilding

Taiwanese dry bulk shipping company Wisdom Marine has signed shipbuilding contracts with Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding yesterday for the construction of two 63,000dwt bulk carriers.

The price for each vessel is about $24m and deliveries are scheduled in 2019 and 2020.

Wisdom Marine issued new shares to raise capital for fleet expansion in September, having earlier entered the tanker sector with an order for two tankers at Japan Marine United (JMU) in June.

Too many publicly listed companies using investor funds to make decisions which have the potential to flatten green shoots – then point the finger at sensible and traditional owners that “scrapping should increase”.

While certainly would be nice to see more scrapping, just wish some of these big companies who treat their investors money in a different way to what they would treat their own would not make decisions like these…
