Wood Group wins $500m contract from BP in Azerbaijan

Wood Group PSN has won a five-year contract worth $500m in which it will provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services to eight facilities operated by BP in offshore Azerbaijan.

The contract includes two optional two-year extension periods and will create around 200 new jobs at the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Guneshli (ACG) oilfield, located about 100km east of Baku in the Caspian Sea.

“We are committed to hiring and developing local personnel, building partnerships and supporting supply chain companies in the communities where we operate. This is reflected on this contract where more than 50% of the workforce will be from the region with a focus on increasing local employment opportunities further, as the contract progresses,” said David Buchan, Wood Group PSN’s eastern region managing director.

In October, BP awarded Wood Group Kenny a “multi-million-dollar” to provide subsea engineering services to these eight platforms, as well as to BP’s existing subsea infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico and on the UK and Norwegian continental shelves.
