Work starts on Lach Huyen port

Hanoi: Groundbreaking for Lach Huyen Port on the outskirts of Haiphong was held earlier this week, with Vietnamese prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung on hand for the event. The port is backed by Japanese interests and is much needed to counter the imbalance of deepsea terminals between the south and the north of the country.

The whole three phase project is scheduled to be completed by 2016 and will be able to handle 8,000 teu class ships.  [17/04/13]
