Workers protest against Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding

A number of workers from defunct Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding protested against the shipyard at Yizheng local government this week over unpaid salary issues.

The workers held a protest against the shipyard in January this year and the shipyard reached an agreement with the workers and local government on a salary payment schedule.

According to the workers, the shipyard has stopped executing the agreement and stopped salary payments and told the workers to seek legal solutions so they can further stall the payments.

The workers are now looking for support from the local government again.

Guoyu Shipbuilding suspended all operations in May and its parent company Wuhan Guoyu Logistics also suspended operations in June due to financial difficulties.
