Yangzijiang Shipbuilding confirms Lomar Shipping boxship blitz

Chinese shipyard Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has confirmed to Splash that negotiations are underway with London-headquartered Lomar Shipping, who Chinese media reports is on the verge of ordering up to twenty 1,900teu containerships across three shipyards.

The order blitz is made up of four plus four options at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, four plus four options at Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard, and two plus two options at CSSC affiliated Huangpu Wrenching Shipbuilding.

Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard and Wenchong Shipbuilding both declined to comment when contacted by Splash.

Lamar Shipping currently has over 60 containerships, including those currently under construction, in a fleet numbering over 80 vessels.
