Zhonggu Shipping orders six boxships at Jinling Shipyard

Chinese domestic boxship operator Zhonggu Shipping has returned to Sinotrans & CSC affiliated Jinling Shipyard to place an order for the construction of six 1,900 teu containerships.

Delivery of the vessels will start from 2019.

Last year, Zhonggu Shipping ordered four 2,500 teu vessels at Jinling with the first vessel in the series delivered in October.

Fast growing Zhonggu Shipping currently operates a fleet of 80 vessels with total capacity of 99,081 teu, standing in 21st position on Alphaliner’s liner rankings.

Zhonggu, Cosco Shipping and Sinotrans & CSC, clubbed together last week to order six 1,140 teu containerships at WUT Guangda Shipbuilding as part of a demonstration project to develop river-sea shipping.
