21 dead in Nile collision

Cairo: An unidentified cargo ship collided with a passenger vessel on the Nile late last night killing 21 people who were celebrating at an engagement party. Just five of the party have been rescued.

The captain and first officer of the cargo ship have been arrested and are being questioned.

The accident is the worst in Egypt for nine years when an Egyptian ferry sank in the Red Sea, killing more than 1,000 people.
