350,000 teu of world boxship fleet in drydock for scrubber installations
The number of boxships withdrawing from service for scrubber installations has surged in recent weeks and is set to climb further in the coming couple of months, according to research carried out by Alphaliner.
Based on Alphaliner’s fleet survey as per 30 July 2019, at least 31 vessels are currently undergoing scrubber retrofits, with a total capacity of 350,000 teu out of service as a result.
“The number of ships withdrawn for scrubber retrofits is expected to increase further in the coming months, with more than 550 additional ships expected to be retrofitted,” Alphaliner noted in its most recent weekly report.
