Yang Ming takes another four Shoei Kisen newbuilds on charter

Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp and Shoei Kisen Kaisha of Japan have signed further charter agreements for four 11,000 teu containerships yesterday. The four new vessels – to be built by Shoei Kisen’s sister firm, Imabari Shipbuilding – will be delivered in the first three quarters of 2022.

Yang Ming had ordered another ten 11,000 teu newbuildings through long-term charter agreements with owners Costamare and Shoei Kisen in the past nine months.

“These eco-type newbuildings with modern designs will gradually replace some of Yang Ming’s high-cost, older ships,” Yang Ming stated in a release.

Yang Ming, part of THE Alliance, currently stands as the world’s eighth largest liner with 682,318 slots, according to data from Alphaliner.
