Gulf Drilling International awarded jackup contract at Al Shaheen

Gulf International Services subsidiary Gulf Drilling International has been awarded a three-year drilling contract with North Oil Company for 2014-built jackup rig Dukhan.

The rig, which recently came off a five-year contract with Qatar Petroleum, will be used at North Oil Company’s development at the Al Shaheen oil field.

William Ceppi, CEO of Gulf Drilling International, commented: “GDI is proud to be selected as North Oil Company’s partner in their continued development of the Al-Shaheen offshore oilfield. NOC’s selection for the fourth rig, the Dukhan, is a testament to GDI’s continued safety focus, operational excellence, and strong management and leadership. We are certain that the collaborative teamwork between NOC and GDI during this campaign will serve as a strong foundation for future growth between our two companies.”

Al Shaheen is Qatar’s largest offshore oil field.
