BBC Chartering appoints Ulrich Ulrichs to succeed Svend Andersen as CEO

Project cargo shipping giant BBC Chartering has announced the appointment of Ulrich Ulrichs as chief commercial officer, effective May 2.

Ulrichs will head the group’s global commercial business development activities, complementing the existing management team. As part of the group’s future succession planning, Ulrichs will assume the role of CEO after a transition period, replacing Svend Andersen, who has been in the company since its inception in 1997 and will step down following an unspecified transitional period.

Ulrichs is a veteran in shipping with 20 year-long tenure in the industry, having served various management positions in AAL and Rickmers, including the CEO of Rickmers-Line.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mr Ulrichs to our team. His addition is an important step to lead BBC Chartering into the future, and to further build the market’s most trusted and highest performing global project carrier,” said Roelf Briese and Svend Andersen of BBC Chartering in a joint statement issued yesterday.
