Taiwanese bulker operator Wisdom Marine is looking to dispose of more aging vessels this year as part of the company’s fleet optimisation plans.
The company said it has already sold one vessel this year and planned to sell another five vessels.
Wisdom Marine will take delivery of two panamax newbuildings later this year and the company said it has already secured charter contracts for the two vessels.
According to the company, a total of 56 vessels in its fleet will change contracts this year which will see an average rate growth of 5.82%, lower than a previous estimation of 13%, and it believes the dry bulk market will gradually improve from the second half of this year. Going forward, Wisdom Marine will focus on the investment in panamax and handysize vessels.
Wisdom Marine currently operates a fleet of 130 vessels, including 119 self-owned vessels, and it also has 13 newbuildings on order currently.
